Joseph John Issa, BA., CPA, J.P.


Joe Issa, businessman, was born on December 01, 1965 and is married to Asha Rochu Manglani. He is founder and Chairman of the dynamic Cool Group of Companies whose business model and outlook is similar to Richard Branson’s Virgin group. The Cool Group, celebrating its 10 year anniversary – 2005, through its affiliates and subsidiaries, is engaged in a diverse array of businesses ranging from telephone card distribution to foreign exchange trading, to sign manufacturing, tow-trucking and the utilization of automated fueling systems. The Group, through its Cool Oasis subsidiary, is currently the largest indigenous operator of petrol stations in Jamaica. Through Cool Automotive Distributor, the company is among the leading retailers of automobile-related lubricants, and selected accessories in Trinidad, Canada and Jamaica. Cool Card, the complete calling card center, is the number one distributor of electronic phone cards in Jamaica.

Joseph has enjoyed many successful years in the tourism business where he garnered numerous awards for his hospitality and management prowess. Most outstanding of these is the coveted Young Hotelier of the World award which he received in Sydney Australia, 1994. He is one of Jamaica’s foremost ambassadors in the travel and business communities, having worked for over fifteen years at his parent’s owned SuperClubs Resorts (, where he exited as Executive Vice President in 2003.

Joseph Issa is a member of the internationally acclaimed Young President’s Organization and is a custodian of the keys to the city of Lauderhill which were handed to him by the City’s Mayor in 1997. While he is well-known as an astute businessman abroad, at home Joseph is Justice of the Peace for the parish of St Mary, director of First Global Bank and Dyoll Insurance Company, board member of Seville Great House and founder of the Holy Cross Scholarship Fund and Global Education 2000. He is Honorary Rotarian and Kiwanian for life and Past President of the St. Ann Chamber of Commerce.

Joseph was recipient of the Head Masters Cup, Campion College in 1982. He is the eleventh member of his family to have attended the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester Massachusetts. In its 148 years history, Joseph Issa was the first economics/accounting major international student to graduate valedictorian from the College, holding honors – Cum Laude. He is a member of several esteemed honors societies, namely, Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Sigma Nu, and Omnicron Delta Epsilon and a Dana Scholar. In 1988 he became the youngest resident Jamaican to pass all four parts of the prestigious Certified Public Accountant exam in one sitting.

Joseph Issa, a man of outstanding achievements, unquestionable character and integrity has been serving as a Eucharistic Minister for the Catholic Church since 1983. For relaxation he enjoys jet skiing, biking, dominoes, mahjong and squash. He remains one of the most recognizable faces in Jamaica.
